“Throw it against a wall”

While throwing a ball against a wall may cause it to bounce back, it doesn't involve the ball stopping and reversing direction immediately after traveling a short distance without additional forces acting on it.

“Drop it straight down”

Dropping the ball straight down does not involve throwing at all, and it simply falls under the influence of gravity without reversing direction.

“Throw it at the ground”

Throwing the ball at the ground would cause it to bounce, but again, it doesn't stop and immediately reverse direction without further movement or bouncing.
